Phylum echinodermata
The basics
Body Plan- Larva are bilaterally symmetric, adults are radially symmetric. They have an endoskeleton. They have a water vascular system which enables movement and getting food. They are ceolomates. and deuterostomes.
Habitat-All marine environments except for those in brackish waters.
Feeding-Some extend arms to reach food or use platelike teeth. Most eat mollusks, coral and other invertebrates.
Reproduction- Mainly gonochoristic(male and female are seperate animals), with some exceptions. In warm waters the parents don't take care of the eggs as much as in cold waters because the environment is to harsh for the larva. Varies from free spawning and indirect development to brooding and direct development.
